Located two blocks from City Hall on Church Street, this gothic style Cathedral whose real name is the Trinity Church is a city landmark, which can clearly be seen from four miles away. Begun in 1886, the Cathedral is situated on the same site as its predecessor that was destroyed by a fire in 1884. The building was eventually consecrated in 1911. The decoration is dominated by characteristically ornate stonework, which abounds on both the interior and exterior walls. The figures of Christ and his followers, forming an imposing backdrop at the Alter, were mainly the work of a local sculptress, Ms. Billy Lang, the finest stoneworker that Bermuda ever produced.
