Situated on the northern shore of the island is Flatts village in Smith’s Parish. The Flatts inlet allows water to flow from the Atlantic Ocean into Harrington Sound. Flatts was the site of the first bridge in Bermuda fording the rapids caused by the constant tidal flows between the Ocean and the Sound. In addition to palm trees, Flatts is home to the Bermuda Aquarium, Natural History Museum, and Zoo. The Aquarium consists of over 100 different species of spellbinding tropical species ranging from tiny sea horses to barracuda and moray eels.
